What’s new

Everything that has changed, newest first. No version numbers — nobody upgrades a hosted product, so the date is the part worth knowing.

  • New

Clients can ask for changes instead of only signing or declining

A new button on the signing page lets them say what needs to change. The quote pauses instead of dying, that version closes so nobody signs it by mistake, and you get their words by email straight away.

  • New

A quote the client has asked to change can be edited again

Edit it, then send the next revision to the same quote — no duplicating, no second quote number. Every version you have already sent stays frozen exactly as it was signed or seen.

  • New

Quotes has a Changes requested view

The deals waiting on you, kept apart from the ones waiting on them. Each version on a quote now shows what was asked for that round.

  • New

Dates are shown in your workspace's time zone

Set it under Settings, or let it be picked up from your browser when you sign up. A contract signed at 10pm Pacific now says the 23rd rather than the 24th — and the date on one already signed never moves again.

  • New

Switch between workspaces without signing out

If you belong to more than one company, they are listed in the account menu. Pick one and everything — quotes, clients, contracts — is that company's.

  • New

Text fields can ask for an email, a phone number or a number

Pick what kind of answer a text box takes when you place it. Whoever signs gets the right keyboard on their phone, is told straight away if it looks wrong, and cannot finish until it is right.

  • New

Add the first contact while you add the client

The new client form now has a place for the person you deal with, so a client is ready to send to the moment you save it.

  • New

Send a document you have uploaded to another client

Duplicate an uploaded form and every field keeps its exact place, so a payment authorisation or a photo release is placed once and used forever. Put {{client.name}} in the name and each copy names itself.

  • Improved

Invitations you have sent are listed until they are accepted

The team page shows who has been invited and is yet to join, so an invitation that went to the wrong address is visible rather than silent.

  • Improved

    Actions on the agreements list

Open, download, view the signed copy, fetch a certificate or send the same document to somebody else, without opening it first.

  • Fixed

The cold-deal notice now actually arrives

Documents sent and never signed were meant to email you once the link expired. The notice was being rejected before it was sent, so it never had. It sends now.

  • Fixed

Quotes sent through SigFetch no longer sit in the pipeline as drafts

The quote now moves to Sent when its document goes out, whichever signing route it takes.

  • Fixed

The document preview no longer flickers at some window sizes

At certain widths a scrollbar appearing and disappearing made the page redraw itself forever, and buttons near it stopped responding.

  • Fixed

Reaching agreements that were sent to you

If you have a workspace AND somebody sends you something to sign, your account menu now offers a way back to it. Before, it was only reachable by knowing the address.

  • New

Record an agreement that was signed on paper

Printed it, got it signed with a pen and scanned it back? Record the date it was signed and upload the copy, and it counts toward renewals and reports like any other. It is always shown as signed on paper, never mixed up with an electronic signature.

  • New

Sign in with Microsoft or Google

One click instead of a password, and your own sign-in security comes with it. An existing account with the same verified address is recognised rather than duplicated.

  • New

Documents nobody has signed are chased for you

Three days after you send something, the signer gets one reminder. The day after the link expires, you are told it went cold — and whether they never opened it or read it and did not finish.

  • New

    Download everything in your account

One file with your clients, your catalog and every signed agreement as a PDF. Under Settings, whenever you want it, without asking anybody.

  • New

Workspaces left idle are warned long before anything is removed

If an account goes quiet for a year we email you, twice more after that, and pause sending before anything is ever deleted. Signed agreements stay downloadable throughout.

  • New

    Documentation for Resend and SigFetch

How to send agreements from your own domain, and how to sign through your own SigFetch account — what each one changes, and how to connect it.

  • New

    Documentation

How to set HootQuill up and use it, at hootquill.com/docs — your first quote, importing from a spreadsheet, how services and clauses fit together, and the whole QuickBooks connection.

  • New

Say how a contract is paid, and have it say so

Choose whether a term is paid as it runs or in full up front. It prints in the cost summary, so the document answers it rather than leaving it to memory.

  • Improved

    Stronger protection for your account

Passwords must now be at least 10 characters and are checked against known breached passwords. Every connection is held to HTTPS, and changing a password requires the current one.

  • Fixed

Buttons and forms work again on every public page

A security policy was blocking the page scripts on the marketing site and on the password-reset request form, so anything you clicked there did nothing. Both are fixed, and a check now runs before every release.

  • Fixed

The catalog item page uses the full width again

  • New

A real editor for agreement sections

Headings, lists, bold and links from a toolbar, instead of remembering which character does what.

  • New

End an agreement early without touching what was signed

It leaves Renewals and stops counting toward recurring totals from the date you give. The signed document, its PDF and its audit trail are unchanged — this records that the agreement stopped.

  • Improved

Catalog and Templates are easier to move around

Items, Services and Discounts under Catalog; Templates and Sections under Templates.

  • New

Reset your password from the sign-in screen

And change it, or sign out everywhere, under Settings → Security.

  • New

    Notifications

You are told when a client opens, signs, approves or declines something, and when a contract's renewal notice is approaching. Choose what reaches you, and whether it also comes by email, under Settings → Account.

  • New

Clients receive their signed copy by email

The finished PDF is attached, so they keep it without needing a link.

  • New

Each service has its own page

Open a service to see the wording and the priced items that belong to it, rather than a count that led to a list of everything.

  • New

    Quotes can be deleted

A quote that never became an agreement can be removed. Once an agreement has been issued from it, the quote stays — the agreement was built from its wording.

  • Improved

Clearer about what counts against your monthly documents

Most deals cost one, not two. The questions page now says so, and says exactly what adds another.

  • Improved

A quote that cannot be sent says so before you press Send

Problems that block sending are now separated from ones merely worth knowing, so an unfilled placeholder is caught while you can still fix it.

  • Improved

    A website field on clients

Fills the domain that hosting and web agreements print, and accepts a pasted address rather than insisting on a bare domain.

  • Improved

Required fields on sign-up are marked, and say what is missing

  • Fixed

Counts across the app were showing zero

Sections per service, contacts and quotes per client, and several others reported nothing. They now report what is actually there.

  • New

    HootQuill is live

Build a quote from your own catalogue, turn it into an agreement in your own wording, and have your client sign it online — with the executed copy, its audit trail and its renewal dates kept for you.
